Most job searches take 8 months. His took 75 days. Here’s why...

Today we're breaking down the system behind his result.

JOB SEARCH STRATEGY WITH EARLY.

Sam joined the Early Accelerator in early August 2025.

He was a Senior Ops professional with a strong background, and had done genuinely impressive things in his career like joining a Seed Stage startup to lead the Strategy & Operations function and scaling the company from a $200M valuation to an >$2B valuation. His search wasn't moving, though.

"I joined the program after about four months of hundreds of cold applications going nowhere, a lot of frustration, only a few interviews, and stagnation throughout my job search."

He was a bit cautious and despite having a strong background, felt a bit desperate. He had lost much of the confidence he had built around his last several years of building a career in AI.

75 days (just two months and two weeks) after joining, he signed an offer as Senior Director of Operations at a Series E AI startup with a base nearly $100,000 higher than his last role and equity 3x what the company originally offered him.

This role wasn't found through job boards, he didn't even apply. The job came from inbound outreach from the company's recruiter.

But how do you go from four months and hundreds of applications without any traction to the exact type of startup you want to work for DMing you on LinkedIn asking you if you want a job?

The answer is you learn how startup hiring really works. It's not that applications never work, just that the startups worth joining don’t do the majority of their hiring that way.

They hire through the founder's network, through referrals, through relationships recently built, or by going out and finding the exact person they want to hire (that's what happened to Sam). To get in front of the fastest-growing startups, you need to approach things differently.

One of the first things we worked on was clarity about what he actually wanted.

We took him from targeting six or seven job titles/roles to the one that was exactly what he wanted. This isn't the easy or sexy work but it's necessary to set you up for the success that follows.

One of the next things we targeted was his LinkedIn presence. Sam hadn't posted in over five years, which isn't unusual at his level. A lot of people go quiet on the platform when things are going well because they didn't need it.

We had Sam commit to posting twice a week during his job search. We weren't asking him to become a LinkedIn influencer, just to share more about his expertise to catch the eye of recruiters.

Quick one before we continue: the next Early Accelerator cohort opens for applications today, and the first 20 people we accept get access to a private AI job search workshop I’m building.

Applications close June 16th, and you can apply in less than 5 minutes here: Click here to apply

His first post alone pulled 500 impressions and 25 profile views. Within just a few weeks, hiring managers were reaching out to him, and the quality of conversations were detailed and aligned with the role he was looking for.

At the same time, he stopped relying on job boards and started working a targeted list of companies through our networking playbook.

The goal wasn't to send 100 "I'd love to connect" messages and hope something sticks. It was to catch their attention and find out information about a few aligned companies in the most genuine way possible.

These take a little longer to set up, but what comes back is in a different league.

Within a few weeks, Sam had two calls booked at companies he actually wanted to work for: one through a warm referral chain that took him directly to the Co-Founder of a Series A company, one through cold outreach that landed him a real conversation with a Head of Growth at an AI startup.

Both through relationships he built using the framework.

When all was said and done, Sam ended up with three competing offers. When the offer came in from the AI startup (he also created a new role for himself during the interview process), he used our benchmarking data to negotiate. This is the part most people underestimate; you can't just ask for more, you need to know what more value looks like and how to back it up with data.

Sam knew exactly what to push on and had the numbers behind him. His base came in nearly $100k higher than his last role and his equity was 3x what the company had originally offered him.

Start to finish, that was seventy-five days.

I wanted to share this with you because it's a great example of what happens when you stop treating the job search like a numbers game and start treating it like a system.

Sam wasn't lucky here, he did the work, in the right order, and sought out support at every stage from our community.

The next Early Accelerator cohort opens today. If you've been on the fence, or meaning to look into it and haven't gotten around to it, now is the moment.

90 days from today is the end of August. By starting today, you'll give yourself the best shot at landing a role before summer is over and will position yourself perfectly to take advantage of the annual post-Labor Day hiring spike.

Early is the same system Sam went through: ninety days of live coaching with me, a proven playbook, recruiter support, a dedicated member success manager, investor-grade company data, personalized target company lists, granular compensation benchmarking data, and a community of operators going through the same search at the same level.

If you're one of the first 20 people I accept, you'll also get access to a private workshop I'm building right now on how to set up your complete AI job search home base: a personal job board, application tracker, networking tracker, and outreach finder, all from day one. It's going into the program permanently, but this cohort gets it first.

You can apply in less than five minutes here: Early Accelerator Application Form.

If you have any questions before you do, reply to this email and I'll get back to you.

Let’s go get you that job! 🏆

p.s. Spots are limited, and the first 20 accepted get the workshop. I'd apply sooner rather than later!

p.p.s. Here's the full community post Sam shared after landing his role so you can hear what the Early Accelerator is like directly from him (I redacted some details for privacy reasons)
