  • And my youngest son (3 months) started to smile 👶 (there’s a significant possibility it’s just gas and him crapping his pants though)

Regardless, we’re clearly making progress over here!

👔 1 Job Hunting Tip: How To Shave Hours Off Your Interview Prep Using Chat-GPT

When I was interviewing, one thing always stressed me out.

Well… that’s a lie.

TONS of things stressed me out.

But there was one thing in particular that always had my knees knocking.

What questions was the interviewer going to ask me?

Are the questions going to be ones I prepared for?

It was terrifying.

If I guessed wrong and prepped for the wrong things - GAME OVER!

So what did I do?

I did what you’re probably doing now if you’re interview-prepping.

I Googled “Most asked interview questions.”

Then I would piece together different interview questions from different websites, try to create an exhaustive list, and tailor them to the job I was applying for.

With all that preparing to prepare, it was hours before I could even practice answering the questions.

And all that prep work was stressful and exhausting.

Does that sound familiar?

I imagine it does because that has pretty much been the only option since the invention of Google.

But now there’s a better way.

And it’s not just better.

It’s like going from a horse and buggy to a Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut better (that’s the fastest car in the world, clocked at 330 mph).

And who do we have to thank for this beautiful interview prep revolution?

Why, our AI robot overlords of course!

So how do you upgrade your interview prep and kill the entire process of preparing practice interview questions?

Read on below, you incredible interviewer, and I’ll show you.

Here are the steps I followed to create practice interview questions with answers curated from my specific experience in a matter of seconds

Ingredients:

  • Your resume

  • A job description for a job you’re interviewing for

  • A Chat-GPT account (I recommend paying $20 for Chat-GPT4 due to its increased prompt character limit)

Step 1: Open Chat-GPT. If you don’t have an account, make one.

As cringe as all the Tweets and LinkedIn posts are about the power of Chat-GPT, you'll be left behind if you’re not using it every day.

Step 2: Write the following prompt into Chat-GPT

  • This is my resume:

Step 3: Copy and paste the text from your resume and hit ENTER

Step 4: Write the following prompt into Chat-GPT

  • This is the job description for a job I’m applying for:

Step 5: Copy and paste the text from the job description and hit ENTER

Step 6: Enter the following prompt into Chat-GPT

  • You are my career and interview coach. I’m interviewing for the job description above. Write me a list of questions the hiring manager will most likely ask in the interview and give me the best possible answers using specific examples from my resume.

Step 7: Watch in amazement as what used to take hours to put together magically forms before your eyes in seconds.

Don’t worry… it’s ok to cry.

It’s beautiful.

If you want to watch the process above in video form, head to my LinkedIn post HERE.

While you’re there, give it a like and re-share it so it can help even more people prep for interviews faster. Don’t be stingy. Share the wealth!

If you follow these steps, you’ll shave hours off your interview prep and will impress the interview team with beautifully crafted answers to their questions.

Before you know it, you’ll be entering the Zoom room like a god damn interview Gladiator. Crushing each question offered to you.

We’re all in this together folks.

Let’s win and raise the next person up behind us!

Hey you there… yeah you… yes, I’m talking to you!

I want to hear from you!

What are you struggling with?

What’s an area that you’re excited about and you want me to dig into?

What company or leader do you want to learn more about?

Email your questions or ideas to [email protected], and you’ll likely find a complete breakdown in a future edition of the newsletter.

🔨 2 Job Hunting Tools

Here are two tools I stumbled across that should help you on your job hunt a whole lot easier.

P.S. They don’t pay me (yet), and if there are ever any ads, I’ll be transparent about it.

What’s the tool: Grammarly

What does it do: It’s a free writing AI assistant that helps you write mistake-free in Gmail, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and any other app you use. Even in text messages! It helps you write better in seconds.

Why will it help: First, it’s FREE and it’s the tool I use every single day. I’m actually using it right now. Have you wasted agonizing minutes thinking about whether it’s “The team were successful” or “The team was successful”? Before I started using Grammarly, that was me. After I downloaded it, I didn’t have to worry about sending an important networking email with bad grammar or misspellings. It even helps you with your readability and gives you insight on the tone of your writing.

They don’t pay me, but everyone needs to download this app and chrome plugin right now. Do not pass go, do not collect $200, just download it now.

You’ll thank me.

What’s the tool: The Org

What does it do: The thought behind the company is that talent attracts talent. The Org’s platform allows companies to show their organizational structure to candidates in order to show off the awesome people working there.

Why will it help: As a candidate, your job is to build relationships with people in the organizations where you want to work and create massive value for them before ever sitting those well-defined buttcheeks into that company rolling office chair. To do that you will want to target not only the hiring manager and recruiter of the department but the team members and cross-functional partners you might work with. This helps you figure out who those people are so you can reach out, talk to them, deliver value to them, and prove without a doubt that you’re the person for the job.
